ALPACAS
Well, my mom surprised everyone by announcing that someday we'll be living on an Alpaca ranch!  She started reading all about Alpacas and now we want to have our own business.

To get ready, we have to visit lots and lots of ranches and learn all we can about them.  Of course I get the fun part of just getting to go see them and pet them.  :)

Our business is called Archway Alpacas.  We did get one female so far, but she is about to have a baby any day now.  Her name is Inca Chiquita (we didn't name her that...:))
The babies are called crias.  They are sooooooooooo cute and soft!  I can't wait!!!
Here I am with a few of the Huacaya Alpacas that I got to visit with.  A lot of the ranches have livestock guardian dogs that are VERY sweet...this one's name is Zoltan
This is our girl Inca...she's cooling off in the pool.
We found a wonderful farm to keep her called Wier World and they have llamas too!  Here are some photos of the farm...WIER WORLD

Well, our girl Inca had her baby and it was a little girl!.  If you like to see photos of her being born...click HERE.  Don't worry, they're not really gross.  We named her Soleil and she's sooooooo cute!  She looks like a little lamb and runs all over the pasture like a colt.
We got some really sad news...Inca passed away.  She got a parasite and didn't make it.  Poor Soleil was all alone.  We put her in with an older alpaca named Chelsea...just for company.  Chelsea decided that Soleil needed a mommy and took the job!!!!  She even nurses her now....it was a miracle!!  Thank God for Chelsea!
03-25-07-   We got to take Soleil to her very first Alpaca show!!!  This was really close for us, so we were lucky.  She is now 8 months old, but very small compared to most of the other cria.  We don't mind though, we like them smaller.

I was the one that was going to handle her in the ring.  I was a little nervous, but after walking her around for awhile, I knew we would do fine.  There were some really wild ones there.
I went into the ring w/ 8 other alpacas and Soleil took 6th place!!!!  We were soooo excited!  The judge liked her but said she was a little small for her age.
Our next show is in Peoria, IL.   More photos HERE.  Here's a VIDEO too...
